Sources, editorial standards and recommendation methods
Drink Atlas editorial documentation · 2026-10-21
Records are not reviews
The atlas asks: what kind of drink do I like, and what should I compare next? Classification paths, comparisons and recommendation reasons add context to catalogue facts. We have not personally tasted every product. Long seller promotions are not presented as our reviews; editorial explanations and imported records are distinguished on detail pages.
How to compare two drinks
Start within one drink category. Beer bitterness and wine acidity are not interchangeable scales. Compare style and origin, then read ABV differences in percentage points: 5% versus 7% differs by 2 percentage points. ABV is not a ranking of flavour intensity or quality. Missing values remain unknown rather than being guessed.
How related drinks are calculated
Within a category, the model combines taxonomy (up to 40), profile proximity (28), shared descriptors (17), ABV or coffee processing (8), origin (4) and ingredients (3). Same style earns 40 taxonomy points, same group 26 and same family 14. Profiles use mean distance on shared axes; descriptors and ingredients use shared-set proportions. Missing information earns no credit and can disadvantage sparse records. Advertising payments and sales commissions are not inputs.
Precision is not certainty
Taste profiles on a 0–100 scale and ingredient-share graphics are relative navigation aids, not laboratory analyses or disclosed recipes. Classification evidence scores count available fields such as taxonomy, descriptions and descriptors. A score of 90 does not mean 90% accuracy. Products inheriting the same style defaults can appear close despite tasting different. Recommendations are candidates, not verdicts.
Editing and updates
Catalogue records and related scenes are refreshed by a weekly collection job. Collection dates do not mean every claim has been rechecked by a person. Curated Korean beer and traditional-drink entries and verification notes have dedicated maintenance scripts or editorial files. Search landing candidates need explicit editorial provenance as well as images and distinct descriptions. More links or longer text alone do not establish editorial review, and collection does not create a new review.
Images, ads and outbound links
Product images are credited to their external sources. Related scenes from sources such as Wikimedia illustrate production or style; they are not product reviews or evidence of a visit to that producer. Ads are labelled separately. Outbound seller links let readers check listings; this site does not take orders or payments. Current prices, stock and labels may differ from catalogue records.
Request a correction
The operator is itube, represented by Jongmin Choi. Use the contact on our About page with the page URL, disputed field and a checkable producer, label or seller reference. We distinguish factual corrections from differences in taste and avoid treating unverified claims as facts. Personal information or order numbers are not needed.
